Buddha’s Story ~ Eric & Helen Greatrex, Victoria
Buddha is an almost 13 year old dog (13 in August 2012) who started life in Western Australia one of Pauline Kitching’s pups.
He has had a very good life and has lived in many parts of Australia. Unfortunately due to a change in family circumstances his original owners couldn’t give him the attention he needed and he was having to spend long periods of time on his own. The family decided that he deserved better for his remaining years and put him up for adoption. He arrived on Friday April 27th 2012 and has now been with us for just three weeks, although it seems as if he has always been here.
He has found his way around the house and garden despite being partially blind – cataract in one eye and very deaf – some of which may be selective! Our girls Mink and Emma (Emma is the pack leader) have accepted him and Emma puts him right if he steps out of line. He loves his daily romp around the property with the others and chases after them at full gallop; mind you, the first couple of days it was a sedate trot. He also enjoys riding in the car and just loves outings and walks all topped by lots of sleep. Due to his size ~ he is long-legged and weighs in at 30+ kilos ~ he doesn’t quite fit some of the beds!
We all love having him here and hope that it will be for a long time to come.

Paw Note: September 2013
With great sadness, shared by all AireNetters here in Australia and right around the globe, Helen & Eric made the brave decision to let darling Buddha cross the Rainbow Bridge on Monday 9th September, 2013. Buddha travelled a very long way in his life, and touched so many of us along that way. His first family are grieving with us all, but their gratitude to Helen and Eric for providing such love and care and comfort to this beautiful dear Senior in his final years has brought comfort to them.
Buddha will be remembered as our Star Senior, who carried the banner, wore the tee shirt and sang the song (or barked the barks) for why it’s a wonderful thing to do ~ adopt a Senior Airedale.
You’ll be remembered with love, Buddha ~ forever.
