Hailey’s Farewell ~ Maureen Scott, Canada
Farewell to Hailey, our very special Senior PinUp Airedale girl in Canada – July 2012
Although AireNet Australia is an Australian-based Airedale Rescue organisation, we have affiliations with all Airedale Rescue groups in the Northern Hemisphere. In particular, we have very strong links and deep friendships with AireCanada, the Airedale Rescue organisation that takes care of Airedales in that country. AireCanada also works closely with many of the USA Airedale Rescue groups, often helping to place American dogs in homes in Canada.
In late 2011, a very Senior Airedale, Hailey, was taken into AireCanada’s care. Her story was a very sad one, and tore at our heartstrings. AireNet Australia ‘adopted’ her from afar, and featured her on our website over that Christmas and Holiday Season.
On July 1, 2012 we learned that Hailey has left us. Our AireNet Patron, Maureen Scott, who lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, wrote to break the sad news to us.
“Please light a candle for Hailey, the senior rescue girl who spent her days with us while her family was at work. Hailey crossed the Bridge this morning as a result of heart failure. She was rescued not quite one year ago by a wonderful vet who refused her original owners’ request that this lovely girl be euthanized because she was “too much trouble”. Our AireCanada volunteer drove hundreds of miles to collect Hailey and fostered her for us. In the end, he and his wife chose to adopt her. Hailey was a very, VERY lucky girl during these last months. She was loved and respected and treated the very best she likely had ever been treated in her life.
Goodbye, DollFace! We’ll all miss you enormously . . . .”
And from AireNet Australia, we pay tribute to this brave and loving soul …
“Sweet sweet Hailey. We fell in love with you the moment we saw your face, so full of gentleness, trust and hope. We are glad and grateful that the AireAngels took such care of you, and guided the right (and many) hands to hold and comfort you, and show you the love you so richly deserved. We are the richer for your precious soul and our tears are for those who are left behind as you crossed the Bridge. I think your Aussie AireNet bandana will go with you, and remind you forever how very much you are loved. Your candle burns brightly and always in our hearts.”
